Keith Haring rose to huge fame in the 1980’s. His art is synonymous with life in the 80s, living in a post-pop world his work is characterised by his bold line and cartoon figures. He bridged the gap between the fine art world and street art, urban culture and the East-side of New York. He boldly engaged with the political and social issues of his time, not shying away from confronting these tough topics through the use of art he used it as a medium to have his voice heard.
Haring wanted art to be for everyone. Making it as accessible as possible he often used graffiti or popular media such as TV to reach as many people as he could.
