Daniel Franklin is a Visual Artist based in East Anglia. With training in film and moving image production from the Norwich University of the Arts, Franklin brings an understanding of motion and narrative to his figurative oil paintings, capturing fleeting moments from a larger, undisclosed storyline.
Franklin is drawn to the overlooked, in-between moments, finding significance in the mundane. His paintings focus on these quiet, emotional fragments, where raw, unrefined figures suggest both insecurity and strength. In his directorial debut Dermis, Franklin explored the human body in movement, focusing on micro-details. This exploration of the body and its emotional tension informs his painting practice, where crude yet confident mark-making conveys vulnerability in suspended stillness.
Franklin’s video work has been shown internationally, expanding his exploration of the human body and emotional complexity across different mediums. His paintings continue to challenge the boundaries between the personal and the universal, offering a meditation on identity, connection, and the fragile nature of human experience.
